Announcing Encircle's New Authentication Platform

In early June, 2024 Encircle will start moving our users to a new authentication platform. 

What is authentication?

Authentication is standard protocol for any software. When you enter your password, the app verifies your identity in the background and allows you to proceed. 

Why are we doing this?

This switch will allow us to deliver an industry-leading and secure authentication experience. In other words, the Encircle app will be even more secure for our users and will enable future enhancements to benefit our customers.

How will this impact me?

We are planning for minimal disruption for our customers. Migration will begin on March 20th for web users. Mobile users will be able to migrate at their convenience beginning on or after that date.

On web:

You’ll be automatically logged out of the Encircle web app and required to log back in using your existing username and password. If you’ve forgotten your password, simply click “Forgot Password” to reset it

As a part of new platform security updates being introduced, Admin users will no longer be able to set or reset passwords on behalf of their users. If a user on your staff has forgotten their password, they can simply click "forgot password" on the login screen and do a password reset.

On mobile:

After June 10th, we recommend that you follow the following steps:

  1. Update your app to the latest version
  2. Ensure that you don’t have any data (photos, floor plans, documents, etc.) waiting to be synced
  3. Log out of Encircle and log back in using your same credentials. You’re now using the new authentication system.

What happens if I don’t log out on mobile?

If you have an updated app, but have not logged out and back in, at a future point in time, you will be prompted to re-authenticate to proceed. This means that you will be automatically logged out and asked to log in. 

Provided you use the same credential, any unsynced data will remain intact on your device and will not be lost.

At a future point in time, if you have not updated your app, certain features of the application will stop working. You will need to update the application and log in again.

After June 10th, if you wish to change your password, you will need to complete one of the above flows to update and re-log in.
